What is Stampli?
Stampli is an AP automation platform founded in 2014 in Mountain View, California. It was built around the invoice itself: every invoice gets its own workspace where AP staff and approvers comment, ask questions and approve in context.
Its AI assistant, Billy, learns how your team codes and routes invoices. Stampli says it works with 70+ ERPs without changing their setup, and it has added vendor payments (Stampli Direct Pay), procurement, vendor management and credit cards over time.
Strengths
- In-context collaboration on every invoice
- Higher G2 scores for ease of use, setup and support
- Works with 70+ ERPs, including SAP and Oracle
Limitations
- Pricing not published
- We think it may be more than very small teams need
- Close automation not listed
What is BILL?
BILL (formerly Bill.com) is a financial operations platform founded in 2006. It combines accounts payable, accounts receivable, spend and expense management, and payments, and it is widely used by small businesses and accounting firms. BILL says more than 500,000 businesses use its platform.
Its strength is getting bills paid. BILL AI captures and codes invoices, and payments go out by ACH, check, virtual card or international wire to more than 130 countries, according to BILL. It also offers an AI W-9 Agent and 1099 e-filing.
Strengths
- Published per-user pricing and a free trial on most plans
- Built-in payments network with ACH, check, card and wires
- 1099 filing and W-9 collection built in
Limitations
- Lower G2 score for quality of support (8.0 vs 9.4)
- NetSuite, Sage Intacct and Dynamics sync requires the Enterprise plan
- Close automation not listed
Stampli vs BILL Head-to-Head: 7 Categories
We compared both tools on the seven areas finance teams ask about most.
1. Invoice capture and GL coding
Both platforms read invoices automatically and suggest GL coding with AI. BILL says its AI reaches 95% day-one accuracy on key invoice fields and auto-codes multi-line bills. Stampli’s AI, Billy, learns your team’s coding and approval patterns and is frequently praised in reviews. For most teams we think the difference here is small.
2. Approval workflows and collaboration
This is Stampli’s home turf. Every invoice has its own conversation thread, so approvers can ask and answer questions without leaving the invoice. BILL offers rules-based approval workflows, in-app messaging and mobile approvals, with custom approval policies on its Corporate and Enterprise plans. Teams with many approvers will likely prefer Stampli’s model.
3. Vendor payments
Payments are where BILL started, and it shows. BILL supports ACH, check, virtual card and international wires to more than 130 countries, with $0 fees on local-currency wires according to its site. Stampli Direct Pay covers check, ACH, virtual cards and global ACH and wire, and Stampli says it reaches 100+ countries with target-rate FX. Both are capable; BILL’s payments offering is more mature in our view.
4. Tax and compliance
BILL offers an AI W-9 Agent that collects and validates vendor W-9s, TIN matching, and federal and 50-state 1099 e-filing. Stampli offers vendor document compliance through its Advanced Vendor Management module. If year-end 1099 work is a pain point, ask Stampli how much of the filing it automates for your setup.
5. ERP integrations
Stampli says it integrates with 70+ ERPs, including NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, Acumatica and QuickBooks. BILL syncs automatically with QuickBooks and Xero on its Team plan and up, and with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics and Acumatica on its Enterprise plan. Teams on larger ERPs will likely find Stampli the better fit.
6. Ease of use and support
On G2, Stampli outscores BILL on ease of use (9.3 vs 8.8), ease of setup (9.2 vs 8.6), ease of admin (9.3 vs 8.7) and quality of support (9.4 vs 8.0). Stampli says implementation takes weeks, not months. BILL does not publish a typical go-live time, but offers a free trial on most plans.
7. Pricing transparency
BILL publishes its prices: Essentials at $49, Team at $65 and Corporate at $89 per user per month, with Enterprise quoted. Payment fees are extra, for example $0.59 per ACH payment and $1.99 per check. Stampli does not publish pricing and quotes each deal. For both, ask for a quote based on your real users and volumes.
Stampli vs BILL Pricing
BILL publishes its plans; Stampli quotes each deal. Here is what is publicly known as of October 2026.
| Stampli | BILL | DOKKA | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Custom quote | Per user per month, four tiers | Usage-based |
| Entry price | Not published | From $49/user/month (Essentials) | From $650/month |
| What drives cost | Modules (AP, payments, cards, procurement, vendor management) and scope | Number of users, plan tier and per-payment fees (e.g. $0.59 ACH, $1.99 check) | Number of invoices processed, not seats |
| Free trial | Not listed | Yes, on most AP and AR plans | Demo on your own invoices |
Pricing changes often. Confirm current pricing with each vendor before you decide.

Where DOKKA Fits
Stampli and BILL each solve part of the problem. Neither lists reconciliation or month-end close automation on its website as of October 2026, so many finance teams still finish the job in spreadsheets. DOKKA is an AI accounting automation platform for mid-market teams that covers AP and, as an optional add-on, the close.
Agentic invoice processing
Context-aware AI reads, extracts and codes line items from any invoice in any language, then prepares the entry for one-click posting to your ERP.
Native ERP integrations
Two-way sync with NetSuite, SAP Business One, Microsoft Dynamics, Acumatica, QuickBooks, Xero and more. Go live in 2 to 4 weeks.
Close automation when you need it
The same clean AP data feeds automated reconciliations, flux analysis and journal entries, so the books close faster.
DOKKA is not the right fit if built-in vendor payments or 1099 tax filing are your main need. BILL and Stampli both offer vendor payments.
